Being a songwriter and musician often puts one in more touch with their emotions, and those intense feelings can often hit a peak during a live performance and end up causing some tears to be shed. AJ McLean is letting fans in on the Backstreet Boys' emotional dynamics by revealing which of his bandmates is "guaranteed" to get emotional mid-show.
While on the red carpet ahead of the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards in Los Angeles on Monday (March 17), McLean divulged whether himself, Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson, Howie Dorough or Brian Littrell are most likely to cry on stage.
"I can guarantee you, Kevin will cry multiple times a night. I know he will," McLean said of his longtime pal. He added, "He's the most emo, especially the song 'Back to Your Heart,' which he wrote. [I] guarantee you, he bawls his eyes out."
Richardson will soon have more possibilities to shed a tear or two with his group when the Backstreet Boys take the stage during their Into the Millennium residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas this summer, which celebrates the 25th anniversary of their album Millennium and other "personal favorites" and which McLean said serves as "an homage to having the best fans in the world."
Hosted by LL COOL J, the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards featured a handful of incredible performances by many of your favorite artists, including Billie Eilish, Bad Bunny, GloRilla, Kenny Chesney, Nelly, Gracie Abrams, Muni Long and special honors presented to "icon" Mariah Carey and "innovator" Lady Gaga.
