Body discovered on University of Alabama campus

A decomposing body was found Wednesday afternoon around 3 p.m. by utility workers on a piece of property owned by the University of Alabama. University Police and the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit responded to the location, a wooded area on the outskirts of campus. Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit commander Lt. Jack Kennedy said that students should know there is no danger to the campus, and the location of the body is far from any dorms, classrooms, or other university buildings. The body will be sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for further investigation and autopsy.
