'Queer As Folk' Reboot Finds A New Home

Queer as Folk's reboot was originally being developed by Bravo, but the show has found a new home at NBCUniversal’s streaming service by NBCU’s Universal Content Productions, Variety reported.

The original British series debuted in 1999 and ran for 10 episodes on Channel 4, before a North American remake aired between 2000 - 2005 for five seasons on Showtime. Creator Russell T Davies and produced by Nicola Shindler were responsible for the inaugural incarnation, and while there's been a change on the platform backing, the reboot is still being helmed by the pair, with Stephen Dunn as show writer. The reboot is described as "a modern take on the original British series that centers on a group of club-going friends who find support in the gay community following a tragedy."

NBCUniversal’s as-yet unnamed streaming service is set to launch in April 2020 and will be advertiser supported and free for TV subscribers. It will join E's One of Us is Lying among other programming.
